Rookie Team doing great!
Diana Amaya (11th) and Viviana Castañeda (9th) may have been rookies at competition but they competed like pros. Vivi and Diana along with their Technical Director Francisco Lozano (11th) and Floor Director - Alexa Villafranca (10th) attained a 4th place finish at DMS.

Media Tech competitors!!
Some, not all, of the students that attendine the District #13 awards ceremonies. Front row left to right: Diana Amaya, Viviana Castañeda, Karen Gutierrez, Joanna Lyles, Rubí Martinez and Patricia Hinojosa. Back row left to right: Alfredo Cuadros, Mario Vidaurri, Mayra Aranda and MT Teacher Mr. Mel.

Totally Focused!
Alexandra Garcia goes through her packette of stories to prepare the scripts for her competition.

Don't forget about me!
Francisco "Frank" Lozano may be a Technical Director; however, even he got to write stories in competition.

She's reviewing her work!!
Mayra Aranda, one of our Floor Directors, revises her stories prior to going into the studio to practice and record their, one and only, take!

You go girl!!
Her strong committment and dedication will take her a long way. Our fishy Viviana Castañeda practices with our BNP (Broadcast News Production) group bound to state. Vivi dedicated many hours to honing her craft.

Already preparing for next year...
Joanna Lyles and Viviana Castañeda practice with each other in hopes that they can light up the TV screens next year. Joanna will be our Top Anchor next year.

Lighting it up!
Joanna Lyles runs light at the SkillsUSA State conference opening ceremonies and the awards ceremonies.

Providing the Visuals...
Rubí Martinez runs one of the cameras for state conference. This is the second time she gets to take part in this event.

On Cam!!
Karen Gutierrez is our other camera operator at state. This is Karens first go around at state and she loved it!

Our TD...
Patricia Hinojosa was our Technical Director at the SkillsUSA State conference. Last time Patty attended she ran lights for the opening and awards ceremonies, great job Patty!

Let's Rock and Roll!!!
Patricia Hinojosa gives instruction to her Floor Director (Karen Gutierrez) to assure flow and picture clarity.

OK...you got it!!
Karen listens for Patty instructions and adjusts the cameras to specifications.

Tiiiiiiiiime!!!
Time is crucial in competition and it is imperative that the newscast be three minutes long. Through out practices and competition up to state level our girls kept hitting their time. Rubí shows off the time after one of their practices. The team was always on the mark and these occurance came often...AWESOME!!!

No time for chit chat let's go...
Rubí Martinez and Joanna Lyles practice their newscast as they mike up for their 3 minute newscast.

Kick back...
After the competition we all took a break to snap this picture. Congratulations girls...you were the best! The girls won the state competition; however, due to sponsor error were unable to continue to nationals.
